GAY GAMES in PARIS

« All equal » from the 4th to the 12th of august , Paris will present the 10th edition of « Gay Games » , an international sport and cultural event that promote sexual diversity in Paris, very nearby the 1st, the most Parisians youth accommodations in Paris : 

• BVJ CHAMPS-ELYSEES MONCEAU :  a modern, Parisian and sophisticated Youth Hostel inscribed in the history of Paris, located a min closed to Parc Monceau, Arc de Triomphe and Champs-Elysées Avenue… and very nearby the Eiffel Tower
• BVJ OPERA-MONTMARTRE :  the first historic Youth Hostel in Paris, a stunning private mansion house of the 18th century, built by the explorer Bougainville, and offered by the Emperor Napoleon to the actress Mlle Mars… located just between Opéra & Montmartre !

Created in 1982 in San Francisco, the GAY GAMES takes every 4 years and arrive for the first time in Paris this year.

Like a 2.0 olympic game in Paris, the event brings all together , 36 competitions sports that goes from beach volleyball , figure ice skating , roller skating to pétanque .

The competition is open to everyone and does not take in consideration you’re sexual orientation , your age or your gender and it does not require any qualification level .

Everyone is welcome!

More than 10000 participants are expected this year .

With more than 80 countries represented , the event is an opportunity to bring together people from countries where homosexuality remains prohibited , everyone gathers around values of diversity , respect , equality , solidarity and exchange . The purpose of this event is to promote a world where the difference does not lead to exclusion and where we can fight against discriminations .

The activites starts on august 4 with the opening ceremony at the stadium « Jean Bouin ». Discover the parades of artists and athletes during a colorful show that will just be in introduction to the rest of the event .The ceremony will be followed by an evening at the « Grand Palais » , one of the most emblematic monuments of Paris with dj set , bar and foodtrucks.

Throughout the all events , athletes and spectators are invited to meet in the village game at the place «  Hotel de ville » , right next to the emblematic gay district of paris the « Marais » . The place will be transformed for the occasion into a place where you will be able to exchange and play games that will allow you to discover different types of sports from 10 to 6pm .

Finally from 6 o’clock in the evening , the village atmosphere will change , welcoming different concerts and shows througout the night .

Many activities are organised other than the competition such as ; classical music concert, choir at the « Casino de paris » , projections of short movies followed with debates , guided tour in the « Marais » to discover the district history , free concert between 4pm and 6pm in different paris parks ( in the «  Jardin des tuileries  «  on august 8 , or the 10th of august at the «  Square du temple »…) and of course the one hour cruise on the « Seine »on the 10th of august .

The event will end on august 11 with a party at the « Docks de Paris » right next to the « Seine » with the arrival of many french and european dj’s in Grand Palais in Paris.

During the 10 days , the gay games is an opportunity to discover more than 50 places mobilised for the occasion whether to attend sports competition, conference or a cultural events which is most of the time free and especially open to everyone.

Otherwise to reach directly to the village , you need to take the metro 7 from BVJ Opera-Montmartre, you will be there in less than 30 minutes !
